Run-time error '91'

Can any help please?  I keep getting this error message everytime I try to
connect to a database...



Run-time error '91'


Object variable or With block variable not set



I have pinged the IP address (and received a response) and also checked the
path in the TNSNAMES.ORA file - all appears to be okay, except when I try to
logon/connect to database.
