I would advise you to buy a CD pack from store.oracle.com for your
favorite OS, install Oracle Enterprise, bookmark asktom.oracle.com (and
buy his book), and in general read several books on Oracle to get as
much (and varied) information as possible. If you can take a class at a
local community college, do that as well. Try to find if there are any
local user groups so you can meet people who share the same experience
and have tons of experience. You need to learn from other people who've
done it before.
Try to learn how Oracle works. Try to understand the architecture, how each of its components work together, etc., This is essential in learning how to exploit Oracle. You can't just go into Oracle thinking it's just another ol' database. It is a distinct product that utilizes some interesting technology that allow it to do its thing.
Remember, Oracle is *huge* and takes years to master. Becoming an expert won't come overnight. Received on Tue Apr 23 2002 - 20:16:30 CDT
