Don't say that. My cousin's husband works in NYC as a DBA, so he
says. A few years ago this guy came out of Chubb and knew not very
much of anything, got a job with IT in UPS, they sent him to a class,
gave him some stuff a little at a time. He says that later on he was
working as an indep. contractor in NYC and says he was taking in about
US$300k/yr. Now he is a dba but he is no programmer and never was.
He says that it limits him but he says as a salaried employee he is
making somewhere around US$100k/yr. I dunno, is he lying? I hope so
because I've been with computers since I'm a kid, I taught
myself UNIX and am a UNIX sysadmin now and make under US$70k/yr, and
frankly feel like a failure when I talk to this guy, b/c I KNOW I'm as
smart or smarter than him and can do anything he does and more if I
could find a company willing to make me a dba like he found, but I
give him credit since he has alot of self confidence and can schmooz,
which is something I lack. Maybe he is just a good b*llsh*tter.....
