Hi there! I am a Delphi / Java / Cold Fusion web developer with very little Oracle experience.

I have a client that has:
Oracle developer 6i
Oracle DB 8.1.6 (soon to upgrade to 8.1.7?)

I have created a web page that has some functionality that they require. In order to take advantage of it, they will need to post to me some text (preferably xml) from their existing system. As they have described it, they are using Oracle forms and reports. They say they have much more flexibility with forms than with reports. What I would like to have them do is to add an html form at the bottom of their Oracle form. This html form would have a single textarea field that would be populated with the same data as the form was already displaying. There would be a submit button that would send this text field to a page on my server for analysis of the data.

From what I can gather, it looks like the Oracle forms might be using Java applets to display the output. The applets might even be connected directly to the database, I don't know.

Can someone give me an idea of what will be needed to add such a form to the bottom of an Oracle forms page? Any insights into what Oracle is doing with applets, and what sort of control the administrator/programmer has over the output would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

-pete
