Hi:

Thanks for reading this.

I know it's a vague question, but bear with me. I've been developing Oracle databases now for years on PCs and for the most part have had no problems in dealing with databases up to about 50G in size with just pain ole everyday PC hardware.

Now, I have a design comming up that could top 1.5 to 2 TB in size. Using readily availabe PC hardware, can I reasonably expect a db this large to perform well as a web based app.? Or, should I HIGHLY recommend we go to a UNIX box?

I'm forgoing the gory details, because those decisions have not been made yet. We can use 8i, 9i, whatever tool we want, and whatever platform we want.

So, any ideas???

Thanks,
