I rather suspect that technically speaking Oracle and IBM etc no longer
supply relational databases but object relational ones (to a greater or
lesser degree). similarly it is possible to store user defined objects/types
in Oracle. However as rather befits two academics (and one pedant - me) this
is an entirely academic discussion. The original question cannot in fact be
answered for all the reasons you detail in your other post.
