Online and Offline

So sorry to bother you guys with petty questions but I'm in a such for my college assignment...
Ok i'm having an online and offline system accessing the same database.. then problem is
I started by doing the offline part and the thing works just fine with my program..then i went on
with myonline part using ASP...now it can't access the database... the error that I get is
Technical Information (for support personnel)

  Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)   [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

I've heard that I have to configure the TNS listener and I installed the client part of oracle...
