ANALYZE vs. DBMS_STATS - do we need both?

Hi to all,



Is it accurate to say that DBMS_STATS gathers the same information for the
optimizer as ANALYZE?



In other words, would we want to use DBMS_STATS in addition to a policy of
regularly analyzing database objects or is one of the two sufficient?



Any insights are much appreciated.
