All,

I am currently running Oracle 8.0.4.4 and occasionally over the last few weeks,
a batch program that runs overnight has terminated with the error - ORA-07445
and upon looking within the appropriate trace directory on the HP-UX (v10.20)
server, it mentions that an exception occurred, but is not really very specific
beyond that.
I noticed that within the Maestro Scheduling tool (for the batch jobs) that we
use that the output screen which denotes how the processing ran mentions that a value was not assigned for a numeric variable in a call to a packaged procedure.
I can therefore understand why an exception occurs, however I don't understand why this has caused a Unix trace file to be created at that time.
Also, this process has always run successfully upon rerun.

I have asked the DBA's from our Support team and they can see why the exception
is raised but don't understand why the core dump file has been created.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
