There is a known bug regarding the JRE and pentium 4 machines. The
workaround is to copy the cd to the hdd and then replace the JRE with a
later one. (You can just replace the symcjit.dll IIRC but you might as well
do the lot). This information and exact instructions can be found at the
oracle support site or by searching google groups if you have trouble
