Hi,

We have been doing dozens of Oracle installations over the past few weeks. One particular installition is giving us ongoing problems.

This one site is using..
 Windows2000 Server Ed. 5.00 2195 SP2
 Oracle8i Ent. 8.1.7
Our client application(created in PowerBuilder 6.5)

This site (and all the others) have two databases. One is for testing/training the
other is for production.

So far we've experienced the following conditions:

  1. Starting either of the databases from the Windows Service Manager, doesn't seem to work. We then have to use SVMGRL to start the instances.
  2. After running some scripts in SQLPlus, and then trying to connect to one of the instances from our application create a 'Shared Memory Realm' Error.
  3. We also have had a cause of not being able to connect...with a 'Exclusive Mode' error message.
  4. In our Oracle/Oradata folder we have the sub-folder that are named the same as our databases. Inside these folders the file dates indicate that we have only really been connected to one of the testing/training db for the past week when we thought we could connect to both and run our application. The TSNNAmes.ora file shows the connections correctly, all brackets match up.

Again. We have this kind of setup working in dozens of locations around North America. But this one
location our connections do not seem to work.

Any suggestion are greatly appreciated.
