I have tried to recreatee your error, but I only have RH7.1 on here - somehow I've misplaced my 7.2 CD's. For whatever reason I can't get the installer to run , I even tried to install from my console, again it failed - although not with the same error that you have. Mine just refused to run the installer and sat on the line 'initialising' with jre taking 96% of my CPU resources.
I've installed 8.1.7 on SuSE 7.2 numerous times and never had this problem and there are plenty of help resources for running it on SuSE. Unless there's an overiding reason that you *must* run RedHat I'd suggest switching to SuSE Linux.
It may be worth looking through the SuSE Oracle pages to see if there are any pointers that may be of help on your RedHat installation, versions of jre etc.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
