Hi,

how do you do the "version dance"?

That is, if you develop an oracle dependant app, for people that maintain their oracles themselfes, and often send you dumpfiles. So you need to

  1. use the lowest version any customer has, because otherwise your SQLs have a good chance of not working over there

while at the same time

b) use the highest version any customer has, because

    else you can't use his dump files.

How do you handle these issues? Surely having both highest and lowest version and constantly cross-connecting to shove the dumps arround isn't the optimal solution...

(p.s. am i the only one not overly happing that oracle is pumping out new versions even faster than MS?)
