Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Enterprise manager and localization (NLS)
Hey guys!
Probably it's a FAQ, but I could not find where the Enterprise manager
takes NLS parameters for it's sessions. :(
Currently I have Orcale 9i, but as far as I remember I got the same
troubles with 8i.
It seems that Enterprise Managers uses its own parameters for NLS_LANG and
ignores parameters for an instance.
All other tools including SQL+ works fine. The most annoying thing is that
error messages are translated into a language which is by Enterprise
manager opinion is default and shows it with fonts that arn't compatible
with this language. In my case it's Russian language. Instead of normal
messages
I get only "question marks". Russian language settings are currently default
on my computer under Win'2k. I humbled with a decision of the Oracle
Installer
to ignore my choice of localizations (I did not choose Russian during
installation, but it decided to show me semi-translated dialogs in Russian,
and then installed instances with default Russian NLS), but furthermore,
when I chose to use American NLS, why it still wants to talk to me in
Russian!?
Anybody solved this? Damned lousy localizations... I hate them!
