I have successfully installed oracle 9i on Mandrake V8.1 with only a
couple problems.

3. When creating a database, the shared mode doesn't work, but the dedicated one does.
And that was it. So I would upgrade to Mandrake 8.1 or 8.0 that has that glibc that you need. And have at it.
