We are running Solaris 2.7 with Oracle 8.1.7. We have one oracle db with archive mode (I don't know how to do that). Now my company wants to create another database with different SID. I have following queries?

  1. Will archive mode will affect in creating another database?
  2. Will both database run at the same time. (In past I have weird problem that with another database running WEB LOGIC fails to connect the first database AND STILL UNSOLVED ISSUE)?
  3. I have copied the and made SID name and Directory path changes in the initSID.ora from present database to new database. Do I need to do any other changes?
  4. Is there good documentation in creating database with scripts?
  5. What changes do I need to do to run both database running simultaneously without any user intervention?
