Problem With Starting Oracle

I've recently downloaded and installed Oracle 8.1.7.0.

I know that a user name and password is required and have apparently forgotten the ones I was using to start the PS/SQL Engine. ("SYSTEM/MANAGER" is not the correct sequence I found.)

I cannot find them in any of the documentation I downloaded so I cast this question upon the waters of USENET.
