I am not sure which Newsgroup to ask this question so I drew straws!
I have a client who has problems with his Oracle 8i database! I deal with mobile (Palm) computers and I need to concurrently synchronise the data from several Palmtops with the Oracle backend.
This is my problem! I have no real knowledge of Oracle but I have in my possession the Oracle installation CD, an exported dump of his database and a useless book on Oracle that has a wonderful chapter on "What is a relational database?" (thank you book, but I know what a relational database is) and a few lines on getting the APP up and running.
Can anyone out there give me a few pointers on the steps involved to get the
APP up and running and being able to interrogate the tables:-
E.g. Install APP; set up a User by doing this ...; export the database by
doing this ... etc...
or can anyone suggest a book (web link) I can purchase that covers the
installation and setting up parameters easily. Not necessarily an "Idiots
Guide" but a book that caters for a person with experience in the industry
but not with Oracle. It will need to cover the initial setting up processes
in detail.
Configuration:
OS: NT4 SP6
Synchrnonising through a ScoutSync Server 3.5.2 conduit
Oracle 8i
RAM: About 180K
Processor: 500 (I think)
Thank you and Regards
