It is possible to recover through a resetlogs as of 7.3.3.  There is
some good info on it in Oracle 7x24 by Venkat Devraj.  I have also
seen references to it in other books and have had it discussed at
Oracle seminars.  It is not possible in all scenarios, but there is a
chance it can be done.
