Oracle Client on Linux

Hi,

I have downloaded the file 'linux81701.tar' which contains Oracle8i Enterprise Edition. Then I unpacks this.

When I run the installation command (./runInstaller) it says:
"Initializing JVM... bla bla.. Please Wait....." and nothing more is
happening.
I need this for a Oracle Client installation and I'm using RedHat 7.1.

Why? What should I do?

I have tried the OTN Discussion fourums but this forum never works, only get
"The requested URL could not be retrieved"
