Oops, I meant 'sysoper'. It's referenced in the Oracle8i Administrator's Reference anyway.

Should SYSTEM be used to create normal non-system tables? Or should I grant that capacity to a privledged user?

Well, I have purchased The Complete Reference so I'll just do a little reading for a while.
