Further to this, I seem to remember hearing a long time ago (when I used to mess about in Delphi), that older versions of VB could create DLLs with the functions not actually exported. How or why (or even, IF) this could be true, I have no idea. Unfortunately, I can't remember what the solution to this was, but basically, I think this is a question for the VB newsgroups!

If you ask along the lines of my above, you might get pointed somewhere (though please don't quote me directly!)
