The "fix" on mandrake's web page for "glibc" is just for some "rare" problems with the Oracle Universal installer.
This has no effect when it comes to the Oracle server startup. SuSe's patch relink the Oracle binaries against glibc-2.2.x and makes them think that they run in an glibc-2.1 environment. Without the patch, Oracle server is not able to create a database.
No patch from Mandrake is available for this problem, Mandrake's fix is for installation, not for database creation.
