Thank you, it sounds reasonable I will try it out after the holydays. I just have a single question to clear up my understanding of your suggestion.

As I set the IP filtering on the server it self - the "inside" would only be processes connecting from the server itself? This may not work if it has to connect though the network stack, however it is not important if inside processes can connect though the "outside" port, right?
