RAID/Mirroring vs Read/Write

  1. Between RAID and Mirroring, is one preferable when the main concern is reporting speed?
  2. Is it true that in a mirror setup, either disc is as likely to be read from? In other words, is reading from a mirror setup quicker than reading from a single disc? Is this determined by the proximately of any one disc's head to the next block to be read?

Our Data tablespace will grow to several gigabytes. Transaction spead is NOT a
big concern. There will be up to 10 local users, at most each user will be
entering up to 10 transactions per minute. Each transaction contains multiple
records.
