Getting Personal Oracle 8 and Designer 6 working together

Now that I know it can be done, I went back and looked into getting them to talk. Easier said than done.

I seem to have Designer and PO installed in different home dirs - will this keep them from working together?

Designer works just fine for the remote Oracle site that I work on, but won't work locally.

The SqlPlus of PO works just fine, put in Scott/Tiger and now SID and get connected. If I try putting in the SID, which I believe is ORCL, I get an error ORA-12154, that tns cannot resolve the service name. I get the same if I put in login info for remote site.

The SqlPlus of Designer, 3.3 and 8, can get to the remote site, but not the local PO.

I have checked and both home dirs have ORCL defined in their tnsnames.ora files.

I would appreciate any and all help towards getting Designer running with PO. Received on Fri Mar 30 2001 - 11:08:21 CST
