Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.tools -> Anyone used OMNIDEX to speed up contains searches (%term%)??
Hi,
We need to get faster performance on 'contains' searches of the form %searchterm% which of course require a full table scan.
Somebody a while ago suggested looking at full text search plug-ins such as those provided by OMNIDEX. My fear is that I would have to rewrite my applications to channel certain queries through an API which is really not an option for me. Am I correct?
Is there anything out there that will provide greater search performance without the need to submit queries through a different interface?
I noticed that the latest Microsoft SQL Server offering included a full text search capability - does Oracle 8 include a similar facility?
I'd appreciate any help or advice you can provide.
