A collegue of mine ask me if it were possible to access the available database aliases in the user's environment and provide a pick-list for the user at logon time.
He is writing an application with Borland C++ Builder and they have written a custom login screen. They have a requirement to be able to provide a list of possible DB aliases to the user. The user would select the desired alias and the application would attempt make the connection to the associated database.
Apart from writing a routine to read the local tnsnames.ora file and list the aliases found there is there some other way of doing this?
Regards.
