I installed 8ir3 for win98 in a Win98SE machine with 128Mb of RAM and 3 Gb free disp space, with success. Your 98 version is SE ?

It looks like some error writing from the install CD/midia to the dest computer. Try :

  1. to recheck the CD, try read it in another machine
  2. make sure you don“t have any ORACLE-related entry in the registry OR in the PATH statement, nor any other Oracle-related soft
  3. before another retry, RUN a disk and hardware-certify util (like the scandisk/checkdisk/Norton diskdoctor)
  4. a last option : reinstall win98SE and install Oracle as the first soft, as I did.
