Client and server on the same computer?

Is it possible to set up both the server and the client (8.0.5 or 8.1.7) on
the same machine? This would be for demonstration purposes (showing a
Delphi-based application) as one could theroretically do with Oracle 8i
personal edition. However, with Windows 2000 Professional I had no luck
running 8i (1.7) on this OS. This is why I'm looking at other ways of doing
things. If there are pitfalls or tricks, I'd appreciate getting the
information.
