You can download a copy of the current version of Oracle at www.oracle.com and do a search for "download Oracle 8i". This will take you to a download page where you will be asked to join Technet which is free.

You can then download the current version for free.

There are a couple of books I can recommend if you are interested.

I have to go now but i can post a more-informative post later.
