I'll assume you are somewhat versed in SQL. I'll recommend Oracle 8i for Linux Starter Kit by Steve Bobrowski. There is also an NT volume. This got me jumpstarted in Oracle after many years with Informix. Another good introductory book would be Oracle Essentials from O'Reilly books. For a more comprehensive treatment of Oracle I would examine the lineup of books from publishers like Oracle Press (Osborne) or O'Reilly.
