I have been having problems trying to install Oracle 8.1.5 onto a Redhat 6.0 Linux system.
The system has 128Mb Ram
300Mb Swap File
Kernel version 2.2.5-22
I have installed jre116_v5 and created the required symbolic link
Disk size is 30 gig with a 15 gig root partition and 10 gig /var partition
when using ./runInstaller from the CD I get the following error
[oracle_at_localhost oracle]$ cd /mnt/cdrom
[oracle_at_localhost cdrom]$ ./runInstaller
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre. Please
wait...
/usr/local/jre/bin/../bin/checkVersions: /tmp/ldd.out.5294: Permission
denied
SIGSEGV 11* segmentation violation
stackbase=(nil), stackpointer=(nil)
Full thread dump:
NULL (TID:0x406a50b0, sys_thread_t:0x81a53a8, state:R) prio=5./runInstaller: line 34: 5289 Killed ./runInstaller $*
The ipcs command shows that the system is configured for shared memory but
possibly I have made a mistake in the
/usr/src/linux/include/asm/shmparam.h and
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/sem.h files. I have tried recompiling the
kernel.
I would be grateful for any help and/or examples of the above files
thanks
