Hi everyone. I'm am a novice and am looking for help. Sorry that the question is so long.

We are trying to setup Oracle 8i Lite in a lab where the clients are running Win95 and one server running WinNT 4.0 (SP6). We chose Oracle 8i Lite because it is the only product that will run on Win95.

The lab is setup in this fashion;
Applications are installed with the program files (.exe files) on the server and the drivers (.dll) on the clients. When the clients logon they have a home drive to save files in. They can not save to the drive with the applications.

We installed Oracle 8i Lite onto the server and selected all the defaults. It was installed into a directory \ORAWIN95.

When we created a new database we used Oracle 8 Navigator and it was saved in the default directory \ORAWIN95\OLDB40. This is the same directory where the sample database (POLITE.ODB) is located.

We want to save JUST the databases somewhere other than the default directory \ORAWIN95\OLDB40 because we don't want users to save files on the application drive. My questions are;

  Can we save new databases anywhere else other than the default   directory?
  Can we force Oracle 8 Navigator to save databases to the users home   drive instead of the default directory?

Thanks to all in advance....

Anthony
