I'm not familiar with the term 'servicestring' as it relates to ODBC. Are you referring to an ODBC connection string? Are you using a thirdparty application that uses ODBC and asks for a servicestring?
ODBC connection strings are key=value; combinations, i.e. DSN=MyNewDSN;UID=scott;PWD=tiger
