Perhaps someone can help me with a problem that I have been experiencing. We are running 8.0.5 on an IBM RS6000 with AIX version 4.3.3. Lately, we have been experiencing instances where the database will shut itself down in the middle of a job. When the alert log is checked, the message is as follows:

KCF: write/open error block=0x3d2b online=1

          file=11 tmp02tcs.dbf
          error=27063 'IBM AIX RISC System/6000 Error: 11: Resource
temporarily unavailable.
DBW0:terminating instance due to error 1242

This occurs constantly while attempting index recreates. We were told the temporary work around was to set disk_async_io = False, which we tried and it works but the performance was quite poor. I am told by the AIX administrator that all current patches have been applied to the version of AIX. Ideas? What would make the databases start to crash like this after they have been working just fine for over 6 months. All our databases on the particular machine have been affected. Any help would be appreciated. Received on Thu Oct 12 2000 - 14:58:23 CDT
