I'm on a contract where I've got to set up an Oracle 8i server as quickly as possible, with as little fuss as possible, without needing to know much about what I'm doing or why, at least not yet. As the contract continues, I'll likely be dipping in and out of the manuals and learning what I need when I need to know it. What I need(ed) to know right (now|then) is the quickest and easiest way to make an empty database that the user application can mangle however it sees fit. The user application *ought* to config the database just fine, but it's never been tried on Oracle 8i on AIX. The only instructions I've got that are concise enough for my purposes are for Oracle 7, so I was looking for a helping hand to get me up and running fairly quckly. No offence intended, but you didn't seem to understand me. I've gotten better advice than yours from my time browsing the manuals and guessing. With all due respect, --- Pb My opinions are my own.
