NEWBIE: Database Creation

Really STUPID question from a real NEWBIE sysop:

I've tried creating a database using dbassist, and it claims I'll need nearly 2 gig to do so. WTF??!?!?! All I want is a simple, (all but) empty database, into which our application will put all the required data. What am I not understanding?

Surely there's some way for me to create an easy start point for my users without needing to read and digest 1000s of pages of Instructions, Notes, Guides, Advisories and all the other cr*p that you're supposed to know intimately...

A little help, anyone?

(If it helps, I'm using 8i Enterprise Edition on AIX 4.3.2).

TIA,
