Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.tools -> Re: net8 and twisted pair
OK,
But a new installation of WIN NT, on a computer with network card present, cables attached to another I get a proper network connection. When I install the Oracle tools Designer etc net8 is not available! Btw, PLSQL developer, is from allround automations, I do not now how it connects to Oracle, but it does use the tnsnames.ora files.
Anyhow, I supposed that net8 really doesn't care how the physical connection is made. If it does, then what is the use of different protocol layers (ao physical connection, TCP/IP and then net8!??).
Since it is plug and play, switching cables alters the network card setting, but then there is no connection at all, which happened with my linux computer, but simply disabling PNP of the network card solved the problem!
Under windows, and specifically net8 there are the apparently some misterious connections?
