1 You don't need console access for that
2 You don't need console acces for that, however if you are forced to export
over the network (assuming you can't access any drive on the server), it
will be about 5 times slower. Just install a dba client on your system and
you are there.
This would btw also allow you to restart the database, provided you can
reach init<sid>.ora
Yes, it is possible, but I agree with you it is damn stupid of him to disallow you access.
What I would recommend is doing the following:
1 switch to oem (you can use your scripts as usual, for many things you only
need dba authority, and as Oracle is runnin in the administrator account on
the server anyway, you can create any file you want), partly to have a good
joke
2 Make sure you configure all appropiate up/down events in OEM
3 Make also sure you enter *his* pager and/or *his* email-address at
appropiate places. This means he will have to deal with any disturbance, and
as you aren't notified (you can enter only one address or number) you can
pretend to know nothing.
Now wait and see how quick you get access to the server room again.
I would be interested to learn the outcome, and I might be willing to give you a hand configuring it.
