Oracle newbie questions

I have just finished the DBO training at Oracle on 8i and have now been assigned some cleanup duties at work on a 8.0.5 Oracle install. Thankfully I have cloned the machine and am not playing with live data.

WinNT Workstation SP6A. 192 mg, tons of hard drive.

OEM, create a simple job like have the node send a message. Go to save the job and immediately get Dr Watson on voc.exe. If I try to submit that same job rather than save OEM simply closes with no errors!

My account on WinNT does match perfectly with the Oracle account and does have submit backup job rights.

I can you NT backup or restore utility to save the database and restore. I need above to start automating backups and exports.
