I agree that no one in their right mind would let some one with a one week class near a corporate database containing millions of dollars worth of data. However I got drafted with absolutely no experience or training to be in charge of such a database. They fired the previous fellow and pulled me off what I was qualified for to handle the database. It was scary. No one on site knew anything about it and I was supposed to figure it out without so much as a day of Oracle or SQL training. Of course they wouldn't have hired me off the street to do this. Its amaze that the whole thing didn't end in tears. It took 6 months before I could get any formal training.
Oracle experts are so much in demand and in such short supply these days that anything could happen. Of course we did say anyone in their right mind...
