SQL loader and commit

I'm having a problem loading a big sql loader file, and it says it past
it's commit limit.  Is there a thing I can do it auto commit or
something.  Also can you put 4000 characters in a field? it says
there's a length error, but I truncate all my fields to 3885, and
create the table with varchar2(4000)
