Replication and Designer 6

I use the CASE part of Designer to make changes to database objects. We are looking at advanced replication.

Oracle says that when using replication all DDL changes must be made using the Replication Manager or a DBMS_ package. Where does this leave Designer?

Is the combination of Designer and replication not viable?
