Pro*C Compiler doesnt work - needs shr.o

I've tried to compile a pro*c program using its makefile. This is the very first time, using pro*c ! Looks like it needs a file libsql_nt.a which will be created by genclntsh if it is not present. But genclntsh fails with:

ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .pthread_yield :
ar: 0707-117 The fopen system call failed on file .../lib/shr.o

Any tips ?
Regards
Andreas
