Hi.

I'm doing first steps in installing Oracle 8.0.0 on my local PC.

Can someone give me a hint in literature what to do to get a server after installing,
so that I can log in in Oracle?

I probably have no "listener.ora"-file and no "tnsnames.ora", and I suppose I should create them with the Oracle Net8 Assistant.

Where can I find further material to this? (Is there anything available at Oracle Press?)

When I test the service "TcpExample.world" with the Oracle Service Name Wizard, (internal/oracle), I get the reply: ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

I think I should get a Beq service, because the database will be local on my PC. Is this right?

Thanks,
