It's done all the time. Each version should have its own ORACLE_HOME. Each instance will be defined in the /etc/oratab file and started when your machine boots to multi-user mode. The Net8 listener will be the latest version of the two, but listener.ora will have the ORACLE_HOME of each instance pointing to the proper version of its software. Just make sure you have enough memory. I'm assuming you have enough CPU or you wouldn't even think of asking the question.
