I am using Oracle 8.1.5i on Solaris. Was working fine from a remote connection before. Had a system crash and all of a sudden the listener is not working. I start tnslsnr and it sits in the task list for about 10 minutes and closes.
I get ORA-12541: TNS:no listener.
I then start it manually for the little bit it will run and get:
ORA-12514: TNS:listener could not reolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect descriptor.
I'm new to this and there isn't much help available at my company so if someone would be so kind as to provide a sample listener.ora and tnsnames.ora, assuming that's the problem, it would be much appreciated.
For the example, say the machine has a DNS of joe.man.com, port of 1521, and the SID is k5ent1. THanks for any help that can be provided resolving this.
