I would have SAP and Sun do a site survey and size the system based on the needs of your business.

Why? SAP and Sun both understand the requirements of Oracle with regard to the software and hardware (respectively). Even though you may hear a manager say "money isn't an object", the tune changes when it comes time to write the check. You only want to buy what you need.
