Hi,
I am new to oracle but got everything installed and running (o8i, apache1.3.12, php4RC1). I have a database and a working tcp-listener, but I keep having problems to access oracle with php-scripts (well, no access at all so far. Error: _oci_open_server: Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12514 in
/usr/local/apache/htdocs/php/index.php on line 5. All I am trying is to connect. I suspect it could be something with the service name. I do not totally understand how this works. I tried to set up a net service name (testdb) with netasst. At the end I am asked for the database service name (as it is an O8.1) but all I know is my SID (ora_db) which I can't type in as netasst does not accept the _ charakter. I am a little lost here. Who can help? Thanks a lot.

Regards
